Each page has 4 full color CSPs and
a description as seen below.

New York

Five Rivers Bath, NY Type U Issue ‘99 OA Tkäen Dõd #30
Description: This CSP is the same design, but with a stitching variation. Green fields and rolling green hills create the perfect patch backdrop. The five flowing rivers shown are the Chemung, Cohocton, Canisteo, Cowanesque, and Tioga. They merge together to form one body of water. The name “Five Rivers” reflects the many regions included in this Council.

GENERAL HERKIMER  Herkimer, NY Type U Issue ‘99 OA Kamargo #294
Description: This variation has a blue sky and black lettering. It depicts General Nicholas Herkimer, though critically wounded, directing the successful Battle of Oriskany, a turning point in the American Revolution. Much of the history of General Herkimer and the Council’s area is depicted in Walter Edmund’s novel, Drums Along The Mohawk. A commemorative U.S. postage stamp was sponsored by the Council to raise funds for Scouting and to commemorate the bicentennial of the battle. When in Herkimer, be sure to dig for the area’s “Herkimer Diamonds.” These stones are rare, exceptionally clear quartz crystals.

Greater Niagara Frontier Buffalo, NY Type N Issue ‘99
                                                                                                  OA Ho-De-No-Sau-Nee #159
Description: This new CSP is a slight design change. “New York” is at the bottom in brown. It features a buffalo and waterfalls, denoting the consolidation of the Niagara Falls and Buffalo Councils. The falls also represent nature’s unbridled power and grandeur, while the white buffalo represents purity and strength of purpose, goals of the Scouting program. The Council is located near the famous tourist spot, Niagara Falls, N.Y., location of the American Falls. The 184-foot high American Falls contains Bridal Veil Falls and the Cave of the Winds. Visitors can enter the cave or take the Maid of the Mist boat ride to experience the falls up close. Buffalo is also where hot and spicy “buffalo wings” were first served in 1964.

Hiawatha-Seaway Syracuse, NY Type U Issue ‘99 OA Kayanernh -Kowa #219
Description: This new Council was formed from the merger of Hiawatha and Seaway Valley Councils. The two councils are represented by the two canoeists. Hiawatha was a legendary Mohawk medicine man. He traveled through Iroquois country spreading the message of unity and the Great Law of Peace. Hiawatha also helped form the Iroquois League and was the inspiration for the long narrative poem, The Song of Hiawatha, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The St. Lawrence Seaway is home to the 6½-mile long Thousand Islands International Bridge, which spans some of the islands that comprise the over 1,700 island group known as the Thousand Islands. The area serves as a gateway to the Thousand Islands, the Adirondack Mountains resort area, and the St. Lawrence Islands National Park.
